Alissa Cox

Alissa Cox is the PSM Office Assistant and works out of Lumberton, NC. Alissa primarily focuses on the data input on 5-Year Mechanical Integrity reports. Alissa graduated with a Business Administration degree. Alissa has 13 years of experience working in PSM, and she also has experience in administering hearing tests, pulmonary function tests, respirator fit tests, and HAZMAT suit pressure testing. Alissa resides in Lumberton, NC and she enjoys spending her weekends baking.

Travis Cox

Travis Cox is an Assistant PSM Consultant with Nexus Refrigeration.  Travis has over 13 years of experience in the ammonia refrigeration industry and started his career primarily focused on non-destructive testing.  After three years he began working on PSM projects including compliance audits, PHA’s, Mechanical integrity inspections, P&IDs, and SOPs. Travis has a refrigeration Operator Level 1 degree from Lanier Technical College in Georgia and is a Level 2 Ultrasound Technician with certification received from Munson NDT Consultants out of Richmond Virginia.   Travis lives in Lumberton, NC with his wife and two children.  Travis enjoys the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and golf.

Hayden Hanzen

Hayden Hanzen is a Refrigeration Engineer based near Boise, ID. Hayden graduated with a BSME in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Idaho and is a registered professional engineer in the state of Idaho. His 5 years of experience in the ammonia refrigeration industry includes the design and commissioning of multiple new refrigeration systems from the ground up, as well as retrofits to existing systems, all the while collaborating closely with PSM to ensure safety and compliance. Hayden also has experience performing engineering surveys and compiling technical reports regarding PSM requirements. Hayden lives in Caldwell, ID with his wife, daughter, and dog. In his free time, he enjoys watching football (Skol Vikings!), playing video games, golfing and snowboarding

Jess Harris

Jess Harris is the Business Coordinator of Nexus and works out of the main Norfolk, VA office.  Jess handles a majority of the day-to-day operations, project schedules, financials and oversees the administrative support team.  She enjoys handling whatever comes her way.  Jess graduated from Tidewater Community College with a Degree in Criminal Justice.  Jess has spent most of the last 10 years in the Industrial Refrigeration industry supporting multiple teams and departments.  Jess lives in Portsmouth, VA with her husband, three daughters and a few four-legged companions.  She enjoys spending time with her large family, especially if the beach is involved.  She also enjoys getting lost in a good book or a cheesy Rom-Com.

Russell Hillman

Russell Hillman is the Director of Sales and is based out of the Norfolk, VA office. Russell is the only team member solely dedicated to the customer service & sales process. Russell attended Santa Monica College in CA and Brigham Young University in Provo, UT with a degree in Liberal Arts. Russell began his career in the Industrial Refrigeration industry for a design-build contractor as a “Hunter” for Service, Compliance & Project sales. Russell grew-up in Southern California but currently resides in Virginia Beach with his wife, two daughters and two French bull dogs, with adult children in California & Virginia. Although, Basketball was his first love, Russell spends his time playing sand Volleyball, swimming and surfing with family & friends at the beach.

Amanda Knight

Amanda is an Assistant PSM Consultant and works out of the main Norfolk, VA office. She focuses on PSM Program implementations, Compliance Audits, Process Hazard Analysis, 5-year Mechanical Integrity Inspection assistance, Management of Change preparation, RMP preparation and submissions, and Maintenance Agreements. She is also an APSM Certified Partner and Implementation Lead. Amanda has over six years of experience in Process Safety Management of Ammonia Refrigeration Systems. Amanda resides in Norfolk, VA with her husband, two step-sons, a boxer dog and a hound-shepherd mix. Amanda enjoys outdoor activities (hiking, beach, paddleboarding, fishing, and bike riding).

 

Mark Malagon

Mark Malagon is the CEO & Owner and works out of the main Norfolk, VA office. Mark primarily focuses on the engineering, sales, and financial efforts, and also oversees the office support team.  Mark graduated with his BSME from Georgia Tech and is a registered Professional Engineer in several states.  He also obtained his MBA from Mercer University.  His vast experience in the ammonia refrigeration industry over the last 20+ years includes project management, engineering, sales, and management.  Mark’s previous experience as a design-build contractor puts him uniquely positioned to handle large scale engineering design projects.  Mark resides in Virginia Beach, VA with his wife, two children, and Siberian husky.  Mark loves sports, especially his Yellow Jackets and Buckeyes, and all sorts of outdoor activities.  He loves to spend time on his boat with his family or somewhere skiing out west.

John Meyers

John Meyers is a drafter at the Nexus Refrigeration Norfolk office. He supports the engineering department with models and drawings to supplement a wide range of projects. With a degree in Computer Aided Drafting and Design and 8 years of experience in industrial process design, John creates unique drawings that are organized, clear, and concise.  John lives in Hampton, VA where he spends his time out with friends and family or at home with his cats making art and music.

Sean Robbins

Sean Robbins, a dedicated PSM Consultant, brings a wealth of experience as a former Ammonia Service Technician. Specializing in Mechanical Integrity Inspections, Annual and Bi-Annual inspections, and Process Hazard Analyses, Sean is committed to supporting clients in the implementation and maintenance of their PSM programs.

Driven by a passion for continuous learning, Sean has completed numerous industry-specific educational courses and is currently pursuing degrees and certifications in cybersecurity and information technology. With the goal of enhancing safety and security in the refrigeration industry, Sean aims to leverage his expanding skill set.

His hands-on experience in the install, commissioning, and maintenance of ammonia refrigeration systems provides him with unique insights, enriching the inspection and auditing process. Sean resides in the Charlottesville area with his wife and three children, finding joy in outdoor activities and family travels. An enthusiastic baseball aficionado, he is a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan, adding a touch of sportsmanship to his diverse interests.

Jonathan Rompala

Jonathan Rompala is a Senior Refrigeration Engineer who works out of the Boise, ID area. He works on all aspects of refrigeration system design, from initial walkthrough to final start up and everything in between. Jonathan graduated with a BSME from the University of Idaho and is a registered Professional Engineer in several states. He has worked in the refrigeration industry for over 9 years and continues to build upon his experience with project management and system design. Jonathan’s past experience as both the lead engineer and engineering department manager at a design-build contractor has provided him an inimitable experience to successfully complete dependable, safe, and efficient refrigeration system designs. Jonathan lives in Boise, ID with his wife and three cats. While he loves travelling abroad whenever possible, he also enjoys spending his free time with friends and family playing board games or out on the golf course.

Devon Ryan

Devon Ryan is a PSM Consultant at Nexus Refrigeration who works out of her home office in the Boise, Idaho area. Devon has over 10 years of experience in the PSM/RMP field, spending 6 years as a PSM coordinator for multiple facilities, and several years as a traveling PSM/RMP contractor throughout the US. Her vast experience in the industry includes project management, PSM/RMP program development, Process Hazard Analysis facilitation, Compliance Auditing, Gap Analysis, PSM and ARM training, and site assistance with OSHA and EPA audits. Devon’s previous experience as a PSM coordinator helps her see PSM Program implementation from both perspectives: The contractor and the customer. Devon resides in the Boise, ID area with her husband, and daughter. During her off time, she enjoys watching sports (Go Niners!), painting, camping, and riding 4-wheelers with her family.

Heather Savard

Heather Savard is a PSM Consultant and lives and works in Western Massachusetts. Heather works closely with customers to help ensure compliance with PSM and RMP regulations. This work includes the facilitation of PHA studies and compliance audits, providing training, leading management of change processes, the development of PSM and RMP programs that are site specific on a customer-to-customer basis. Heather has over 1 years of experience in the compliance with PSM and RM Plan regulations and is at her best when she is interfacing and actively engaging with the customer. Heather has a bachelor’s degree in Business Management and graduated Summa Cum Laude. Heather lives in Greenfield, MA with her family. Heather is a Corvette owner, as is her partner, and they spend a lot of time going to car shows and going on club cruises. Heather loves the warm weather and spending time at the beach with a good book.

 

Fred Summs

Fred Summs is a veteran and member of the engineering team and works out of the main Norfolk, VA office.  Fred graduated from Old Dominion University with a degree in mechanical engineering technology.  Fred has completed several refrigeration projects and is constantly in the process of expanding his knowledge and experience of refrigeration systems.  Fred lives in Virginia Beach, VA and enjoys reading, long walks on the beach, and sailing.

Colleen Trachy

Colleen Trachy is the Brand Coordinator and works out of the Norfolk, VA office.  She graduated from the VCU Brandcenter with a Master of Science in Business with a concentration in Branding/Copywriting.  Before that, she received a Bachelor of Arts in English with a concentration in Creative Writing from the University of Mary Washington.  When not collecting concentrations or designing items for Nexus, you can find her making stuff from whatever she has lying around in her house.  The only material she refuses to use is clay. As her favorite human, Tim Gunn, would say, “Make it work.”

Mike Travis

Mike Travis is a senior refrigeration design and PSM engineer that works out of the main Norfolk, VA office. Mike works on new and existing systems performing PSI calculations, creating and updating P&ID drawings, selecting equipment, and overall engineering project design. Mike served in the United States Marine Corps for 8 years and deployed overseas twice in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.  After receiving an honorable discharge in 2014, Mike attended Old Dominion University where he received his BSMET in 2018. Mike was hired at Nexus Refrigeration immediately following graduation and has been at the company since it began in 2018. His prior experience in the military has assisted in his development as a refrigeration engineer and the development of additional members to the engineering department. Mike was born and raised in Alabama and loves sports (War Eagle!), working on cars and trucks, gaming, and all outdoor activities. He and his wife now reside together in Virginia Beach, VA.
